Very simply, ewe are committed to providing Cooka’s Cookies customers with the healthiest, most nutritious and of course ‘cookalicious’ products
Our dogs give us unconditional love and our dog treats are a small way of giving back.

Everything started when a naughty and food-loving Weimaraner named Cooka arrived in the home of Aline, Alex and Bubi, their rescue dog. From day one Cooka was different. Way too smart, way too head-strong and very picky with eating. She simply refused any commercial feed and so Aline started cooking real food for her girls.
Not long after this new diet, Aline noticed visible changes in Bubi’s health, which had been poor ever since she was found on the street. Intrigued she started researching the ingredients of pet-food and realised that not all foods are created equally. Some are good and some are bad, just like the food on our plates.

Aline’s search for a healthy and ‘Cooka-approved’ pet-food became a real challenge and so she teamed up with Vets and canine nutritionists to create wholesome and well-balanced meals and treats for her fur kids. Using only natural, farm-fresh and human-grade ingredients, these delicious bites are literally good enough to share with us – if the pups allow it! And yes, and they are always tested on humans, especially Cooka’s Dad Alex.

Cooka’s promise is simple: “Only if it is good enough for us, it is good enough for our furry ones! Love comes in many ways for the furry families. Tummy rubs, long walks in the park, plenty of snuggles on the sofa and a game of fetch on the beach… But the ONE MOST IMPORTANT way to say “I whoof you too” and to show our true love is by the quality of food we are giving to our pets.

Hello everyone. I am Aline, Cooka’s mom and passionate co-founder of Cooka’s Cookies.
It is not easy bringing up Weimis, they have a very strong mind. ‘School term’ was a hard one, thank you Grace, but once Cooka grew out of naughty puppy-hood and we decided to follow her dream of a ‘people food’ pet bakery we became the pawfect pair and there is no place we’d rather be than in the kitchen.
I grew up in Germany (The eastern part, behind the wall) where life was rather simple, yet wholesome. The little food we had was always fresh and unprocessed and I learned from a young age to appreciate the magic of the kitchen. Watching grandma snip and snap and stir and steam was like a fairy tale. Nothing turned into something and thoooose smells…Mhhh, I will never forget them.
When I turned old enough to decide what to do with life I left to see the world. Being tall and rather skinny, yes, even with all these delicious meals granny cooked-up (probably cause they were so natural and healthy), I started modeling and went on a fashionable whirlwind around the globe. I saw the world, I felt the world, but most important, I tasted the world. While other girls spent their fortunes on fashion and beauty products, I just wanted to eat well. Visiting farmers markets, trying local dishes and tasting star-rated cuisine, that was my kind of happiness.
‘One day I will open my own restaurant or my own bakery’, I wished back then, but little did I know that this dream would come true, just not for ‘us’, but for our furry families instead.
I love to cook, I love to bake, I love nature. At home we grow our own veggies and fruit, we keep goats and sheep for fresh milk and a flock of rowdy hens for eggs. We try to be a s self-sustainable as possible and food is never wasted.
When I am not at the bakery, busy trying new recipes or hunting invasive weeds I enjoy taking the furry kids (and husband) for long walks on the beach. The sea always knows how to recharge my battery and the simple pleasure of watching our dogs run wild and chasing waves fills my heart with pure joy. There is Cooka the Rebel Chef, Moca the family yogini and Sherlock, the ultimate gentleman. Then there is Pluto, the little rescue Disney character, Arista, another rescue who is the house-protector and Kelly, the newest girl in town with Einstein’s IQ. We think she might take over the business soon…
With heaps of love from my kitchen,
Aline
Hello friends, I am Alex, Aline’s other half and Cooka’s dad.
I am the Chief Cookie tester at Cooka’s, I think my favorite job so far. You already heard the story, how I emptied a whole tray that night. To my defense, Aline is a great cook and especially her German cookies are a real treat that I (or anyone else I know) can hardly resist. So when I spotted a tray of little heart-shaped biscuits, it never crossed my mind, that they are for our dogs. I admit, I love food and it’s always a battle with those numbers on that troublesome weigh-scale, so I thought Aline had come up with a healthy cookie recipe just for me. Sugar and gluten-free and with a delicious crunch. I got hooked but I don’t bark, yet!
When I am not cookie testing at the bakery, I love taking on challenging projects that involve the big blue. My passion is the sea and I am currently working on changing the way we ship goods across the globe. Our old ways have become way too polluting.
Sherlock, Cooka’s husband/lover/brother/friend is my companion for long walks on the beach or in the hills of Sintra. We make a great team and always understand one another. It is rather amazing, the bond we humans can create with our pets. Sherlock is like the son I never had.
Which makes the message of Cooka’s cookies even stronger, cause pets are part of our family and should be treated as such. At home we share our food, our sofa, our love and often our bed. How much closer can it get?
One world, one family, lots of cookies
Cheers,
Alex
Hello everyone. My name is John and since I was a little boy, I was fascinated by the natural world. My mom would get rather annoyed, as I brought all kind of new ‘pets’ home and not always the cuddly sorts. She especially disagreed on snakes and spiders. But I just always knew, that when I grew up, I wanted to help animals.
I studied veterinary medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and my profession and studies have taken me all around Europe. I settled a few years to work in the UK, but to be honest, I missed the good weather and the sea. I am now back in Greece, living and working in beautiful Athens. I am currently advancing my studies on clinical nutrition and the role it plays in maintaining the health in post-operation recovery. When I am not busy helping animals or studying you can find me on a horse or in the sea, where I often volunteer as a lifeguard.
When I met Aline on a house-visit for her new stray called Arista, we immediately clicked about everything animal-related. So when she told me about her dream to start a healthy and honest pet-food business I was instantly excited and ready to join. We would spend countless hours discussing nutrition and the importance of real food. I have seen many health-related problems in my professional life that almost always are linked to the pet’s diet. Not all commercial pet-foods are created equally, but most pet parents are not aware of this. It is easy to be fooled by a glossy image of a happy dog and the simple words: Premium or Superior can misguide us.
Once we had decided on the final ingredients for Cooka’s recipes, I took the treats to my furry clients for ‘testing’ and when I saw their feedback -wagging, barking, licking, jumping…I knew –APPROVED! But there was one dog that stood out. Recently operated, Donna wasn’t eating at all after a severe kidney failure and her weight was dwindling at an alarming rate. No matter what her parents tried to feed her, she refused everything, even apples –her favorite treat. But to everyone’s surprise, she ate a Cooka’s cookie. And then another and another. Super-joyed her parents ordered a big box and added it to her daily food and soon Donna was back to her former healthy and strong self.
This is the kind of story that makes me proud to be part of Cooka’s crew. Pets have become family members and we should always treat them as such. Cause they give us so much happiness they only deserve the best.
With my respects,
John
Hello, my name is Sissa and I am a licensed TCM practitioner. My passion for animals has guided me on this incredible path of healing and I currently work full-time with Dr. Pedro Choy from the Chengdu University. My studies are constantly taking me around the world, but I am always happy to return home to Portugal, where I am awaited by my little boy and two happy tails.
Healing animals can be rather challenging, as they don’t speak to us, at least not the way we know it. It is easy to ask someone: ‘Where do you hurt’ and treatment can be done swiftly and localized for that problem. But with animals one has to get a feeling. One has to go beyond our visual world and once we manage that, we all of a sudden can ‘hear’ them. I have witnessed astonishing recoveries in my work and I know there is so much more to healing than we know.
The foundation for a happy and healthy life is simple. It starts from a natural and wholesome diet. Just as Hippocrates already knew in 400BC “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” But as our food has changed to become more convenient, less costly and sadly less nourishing, so has the food for our pets. It is not by chance that animals living with humans are getting similar health problems as we do, while animals in the wild do not.
Many commercial pet-foods are solely focused on quantity and price, while the priority should always be quality. That’s why I am so excited to be part of Cooka’s Crew.
Quality, Nature and yes, LOVE make for a great treat. Love is the secret ingredient at Cooka’s and I know that our dogs can taste it!
If you ever have a question about your pet’s health, please do not hesitate to send me a message.
Kisses,
Sissa
