Cooka surely knows the importance of keeping her furry family and friends happy and healthy, but what are you doing to ensure they are living to their full potential?
There is so much more than maintaining an exercise schedule and eating the right foods, and as a family business that was created for the happiness of all doggies, we’ve decided to put together our top 5 tips on how to ensure your companions are at their all-time best:
Changing up the daily exercise
This seems rather obvious and it doesn’t mean you have to stick to the classic long dog walk! You can change up the routine from time to time, and even make it fit around your busy schedule. Therefore, dog walking should turn into something to look forward too, rather than a hindrance in your day.
If you live an active and sporty lifestyle, try taking your dog for early morning jogs, long walks, mountain hikes or any fun adventures you might be up to. It’s always nice to have a bit of wagging company!
However, if you are a bit more of the laidback ‘pawrent’, why not play some catch, ball or the super trending Frisbee, take them swimming, or try training games.
We promise your pooch will love it too.
Cooka’s favourite work-out is chasing waves on the beach, she is a bit of a surf-chic.
Maintain a nutritious and balanced diet
The importance of your furry friend’s diet can never be underestimated. An overweight pooch can result in serious health implications not only for their weight and overall well-being, but also the wear on their teeth, the missing lustre in those heart-melting eyes and the condition of their fur! The food that your dog eats can change everything, even their moods! (and then ours…)
With a natural, wholesome, real-food and cookalicious diet, doggies can get high sources of grains and proteins which help make pet food more digestible and provide them with the fuel they need for being active and staying physical due to the larger amounts of nutrient-dense calories. A happy pet means a happy family!
Keep them mentally stimulated
Exercise is important yes, but keeping your pup mentally stimulated with interactive brain games not only tire out your energetic friend, but they also defeat boredom, increase your dog's confidence, and strengthen the bond between the two of you as you work together as a team!
Every dog is different, some may prefer puzzles and games, while others will do well with simple tricks and commands. But why not try out some different challenges, such as Hide-and-Seek (COOKA LOVES TO HIDE), or a treasure hunt with one of their favourite toys or a pack of Cooka’s Cookies?
Ohhh, isn’t that a wagging tail…?
Create their own space for themselves
Everybody’s different. Some of us may love having their pooches in bed (oooops, Cooka, don’t tell) with them and others may not. But maintaining a designated space for your doggies can train them to know where their resting place is when they want to have some quiet time on their own.
If your companion sleeps inside, arrange a nice cuddle area with a fluffy cushion and some throw pillows, or dedicate a special sofa-bed, as many dogs like to be higher up.
Best to choose something that can be easily removed and washed.
However, if your dog is an outdoor lover, you could easily purchase or even better – build – a small house (castle), but always make sure it is big enough for your pup to turn around inside and to be able to stretch out. This little home should be made from waterproof materials, sturdy enough to keep out wind and rain and well positioned to provide shade.
We wouldn’t want our furry friends getting too hot/too cold!
Cooka and the furry five have ‘baskets all around the house and garden. Sometimes they all cuddle together while other times they like their privacy. I guess they are no different than us humans.
Lots of furry cuddles!
This one creates happiness all around.
A waggingly loved pet changes the energy around the house, it’s like one can feel the love.
Lots of cuddly attention makes a difference to any dog’s mood, but also to all the dog-pawrents. Cuddles have healing powers!
So why not shuffle up on the sofa and enjoy a good old-fashioned smooch with your pooch.
